The S.A.L.V.A.R.E Self-Acquisition of Liquid propellant Versatile Arsenal of Resources Endeavour team, composed by 28 students from Politecnico di Milano and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, presented their concept to produce propellant out of resources extracted from Mars by extracting water from subsurface ice pockets and carbon dioxide from the planet’s atmosphere at the NASA’s annual Revolutionary Aerospace Systems Concepts – Academic Linkage (RASC-AL) convention, held June 20-23 in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Thanks to the excellent technical work done in settling a virtual reality product to get the judges to Mars for exposing their concept, the team was awarded the Best Prototype Demonstration price.
Congratulations to the team members for distinguishing in such a competitive environment!
