Seminar
November 29, 2023, 9:15-11:00 - Classroom BL27.17, Politecnico di Milano, Campus Bovisa, Via la Masa 34, Milano
Rotorcraft are awesome machines, essential for many military and civil tasks.
One of their drawbacks is that they produce lot of noise in many ways. This limits their public acceptance and is way more alarming in view of the growth of urban air mobility sector.
In this seminar, after reviewing the main noise generation mechanisms, we will focus on the aerodynamic one and the techniques that have been implemented and proposed to reduce it.
Speaker:
Jacopo Serafini graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 2005 and obtained his doctorate in 2009. He is currently a fixed-term researcher (RTDa) at the "Department of Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Aeronautical Technologies" of Roma Tre University where he also teaches "Flight Dynamics" and "Wind Turbine Design" at the engineering MSc courses of Roma Tre University.
His research activity focuses on flight dynamics, aeroelasticity, aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of rotary-wing aircraft. In recent years he started studying the dynamics and control of onshore and offshore wind turbines.
He is involved in many European, National and Industrial projects.
