On June, 1st 2023 Prof. Francesco Topputo ↗, Prof. Alessandro Morselli ↗, Carmine Giordano ↗, Gianfranco Di Domenico ↗, Alessandra Mannocchi ↗ and Andrea Carlo Morelli ↗ kicked-off the project GUIDO, awarded the prestigious ERC Proof of Concept (PoC) grant earlier this year.

Within the project, they will develop a computing unit for autonomous spacecraft guidance in deep space. GUIDO will elevate the ERC project EXTREMA fundamental research to a commercial platform that will potentially be able to fly in space. In turn, it will pave the way to an increasing number of interplanetary missions with an exponential growth of the scientific return, while decreasing significantly the costs of space missions.

GUIDO has already caught the attention of the European Space Agency and of major space companies for their involvement in its realization and future adoption.
