Lorenzo Giudici ↗ has been awarded an Outstanding Paper Award for Young Scientist for 2023 by the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) for the manuscript

"Probabilistic multi-dimensional debris cloud propagation subject to non-linear dynamics",

coauthored by Mirko Trisolini and Camilla Colombo ↗, which was recently published in the journal Advances in Space Research.

Short bio:

Lorenzo Giudici is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, as part of the COMPASS ↗ and GREENSPECIES ERC projects ↗.

His research focuses on the application of the continuum mechanics formalism to the modelling of space debris, to address the orbital propagation of large population of fragments at a limited computational cost.

Main outcomes of his work are a probabilistic debris evolutionary model and sustainability metrics to measure the environmental impact of missions in space.
